Check a PCD company before you pay
A 10-point checklist to verify a PCD pharma franchise company before paying: registration, GST, manufacturing licence, WHO-GMP, product approvals, agreement, payments and red flags.
Short answerBefore paying any PCD pharma company, check its company registration and GST number on the government portals, ask for its drug licence and the WHO-GMP certificate of the plant that makes its products, get the product list with compositions, and make sure the territory terms are in a written agreement. Pay only into a bank account in the company's own name, against a GST invoice.

What are the warning signs?
- Pressure to pay a large "booking amount" for a district before you see an agreement.
- Payment asked into a personal account or a different company's account.
- No GST invoice, or prices far below every other company for the same molecule.
- No address you can visit, and contact only on WhatsApp.
- Promises of fixed monthly income. No honest company can promise what your market will do.
How do I check the products?
Ask for samples of the products you plan to sell. Check that the pack shows the manufacturer's name and licence number, the batch number, and manufacturing and expiry dates. Compare the composition with what doctors in your area prescribe.
